Maintenance and inspection of indoor playgrounds and ball pits
Many playgrounds cannot find anyone to look after their maintenance. We work throughout Spain: we inspect and maintain the structure of indoor playgrounds and ball pits, and we also work on outdoor playgrounds. We do it the same way for our own playgrounds and for those of other manufacturers. We do not clean the balls: your staff or a cleaning service does that.
How we assess your playground
We follow one assessment procedure for every playground, whether it is ours or another manufacturer’s. We go through every element and check that the playground is suitable and safe, with no sharp elements or dangerous points.
What we inspect
- Structure: tubes, joints, clamps and fixings.
- Safety elements: no sharp edges or elements and no loose parts.
- Entrapment hazards: gaps and openings where a head, a finger or clothing could get caught.
- Falls: heights and fall zones of each element.
- Flooring: impact-absorbing, with its gaps, tears and sunken areas.
- Foam covers and protection: loose, torn or displaced.
- Nets and fixings: tears, wear and anchor points.
- Ball pools: structure, edges and protection (not the cleaning of the balls).
- Trampolines: jumping mats, springs and edge protection.
- Slides and play elements: fixings, play and condition of the parts.
- Gates and access: doors, latches and the boundaries of the play area.
What you receive at the end
After every inspection we hand over a declaration of conformity and a checklist of everything inspected, and we tell you what needs repair and what to do first.
Signs an inspection is due now
- A torn net or one with frayed areas.
- Foam covers that are loose or displaced.
- A worn trampoline mat or one with thin areas.
- Loose bolts, noises or play when the structure moves.
- Broken or sunken flooring under an element.
- More than a year without a thorough inspection.
Comparing maintenance options
| Option | What it is for | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Daily check by your staff | Spotting the obvious in time, before opening | Does not replace a thorough technical inspection |
| One-off technical inspection | Knowing the condition of the playground and what to repair | Needs repeating regularly |
| Regular maintenance plan | Inspecting and repairing on a regular basis and avoiding breakdowns | Ask for what it includes and how often to be spelled out |
| Repair when it fails | Fixing one specific fault | The most expensive option in the long run if there are no inspections |
EN 1176-7 distinguishes the routine visual inspection, the operational inspection and the annual main inspection. The exact frequency depends on the playground and how it is used; we set it with you.
What is not included
Cleaning the balls and the playground. If you want to know how to organise it, we explain it in the maintenance guide.
If a part is needed
We repair and replace whatever is damaged, and we supply the material: repair and upgrade and spare parts.
So we can give you a useful answer, tell us: the province or city, the type of playground (indoor or outdoor), how old it is, what is wrong or what you want checked and, if you can, a few photos.
Frequently asked questions
How often should a playground be inspected?
It depends on the playground and how it is used. Your staff check it daily, and more thorough technical inspections follow, with an annual main inspection as the reference. We propose a plan suited to your venue.
Do you clean the balls?
No. Cleaning ball pools is done by your staff or a cleaning service. We look after the structure.
Do you inspect playgrounds from other manufacturers?
Yes. We apply the same assessment procedure to our own playgrounds and to those of other manufacturers: all safety elements, entrapment hazards, fall zones, flooring, foam covers, nets and ball pools.
What do I receive after an inspection?
A declaration of conformity and a checklist of everything inspected, plus what needs repair and the priorities.
Do you work throughout Spain?
Yes. Tell us the province and the type of playground and we will tell you how we organise it.
