How to compare indoor playground quotes

Two quotes for the same amount may not be comparable. This guide gives you a checklist to put them on the same basis before you decide, and tells you what to look at with a manufacturer, an intermediary or a second-hand playground.

The comparison table

What to check Why it matters
Playground design before manufacturing Avoids surprises and lets you approve what will be made
Elements included, one by one If they are not itemised, you have nothing to compare against
Standards applied (EN 1176 and EN 1177) Safety, and a requirement for the permits
Transport and installation Sometimes charged separately
Manufacturing and installation lead time It determines your opening date
Warranty and replacement parts How much it will cost you to maintain it afterwards
Maintenance and inspections Who does them and on what terms
Payment terms What you pay and when

Manufacturer or intermediary

  • Manufacturer: a single point of contact, factory price, made-to-measure manufacturing and direct supply of parts. That is our case: we manufacture and sell.
  • Intermediary: may offer several brands, but adds a margin and, if something fails, you have two companies to chase.

Always ask who manufactures and who stands behind the warranty.

If you are considering a second-hand playground

  • Ask for the playground’s documentation and the standards it was made to.
  • Check that replacement parts exist and who makes them.
  • Ask a competent person to inspect it before you pay.
  • Work out dismantling, transport and reassembly; they often cancel the saving.
  • Check that it fits your venue: measurements and ceiling height.

How to ask for comparable quotes

Give every supplier the same details: usable floor area, ceiling height, audience, city or country, desired elements and opening date. That way the differences between quotes are real and not a matter of approach. More in ball pit price.

For guidance only. Requirements depend on your country, region and local authority: check them with the relevant authority before you decide.

Frequently asked questions

Why are two ball pit quotes so different?

They usually differ in design, elements included, installation, transport, the standard applied or the warranty. Compare them with the table in this guide before deciding on the amount.

Is it worth buying a second-hand playground?

Sometimes, but check the documentation, replacement parts, condition and the costs of dismantling and reassembly. A playground made to measure for your venue can work out better than someone else’s that does not fit.

What is the advantage of buying directly from the manufacturer?

There is no intermediary margin, you have one point of contact for design, manufacturing, installation and parts, and the playground is adapted to your venue.
